10 years of RAN ‒ Victims of terrorism

 

 

"Since 2011, RAN has worked with victims of terrorism. RAN’s Victims of Terrorism Working Group puts victims at the centre of P/CVE debate. Working with Victims has always been central to RAN’s philosophy. RAN has also helped victims of terrorism to redefine their roles within P/CVE. 10 years after being created, RAN remains a vital supporting resource for victims". 

As I was an actor of the preparing and launching of the RAN in 2011, as well as co-chair of its Victims of Terrorism Working Group until 2016, I can say that at that time most of other actors were not agree to place victims as central into RAN’s philosophy. It has been a challenge that risked failure and maybe it's still today a challenge to be understood in its deepest meaning.
